In order to break down the ammonia odor crystal in the urine you must neutralize and deactivate it. Follow these steps:
- Spray with an enzyme such as BIOCLEAN BACKOUT or MIRACLE.
- If you don’t have an enzyme you can use vinegar and COLD water and baking soda.
- Keep wet for 48 hours while the enzyme deactivates and digests the urine.
- After 48 hours the enzyme needs to be cleaned out of the carpet. This can be done by a professional carpet cleaning company.
- WHAT NOT TO DO: Don’t use soap, detergents, hydrogen peroxide, SPOTSHOT, FOLEX, RESOLVE, or hot water. Many of these chemicals can cause discoloration and can potentially ruin the carpet.
